Sam Piccolo's involvement in the labor movement began in 1957. In 1963 he entered the ranks of the Pittron Steel Foundry and became a member of the USWA. During his years at Pittron, Sam received high honors in the labor movement. From 1963-1970 he was elected to the Grievance Committee and also served as the Committee Chairman. Then, from 1970-1978 he was elected to three consecutive terms as the President of Local Union 1306, USWA - the only individual to ever serve more than one term as its President. During his 15 years at Pittron, he held the status of an elected union officer. In 1978 Sam was appointed to Staff Representative for District 15 of the USWA and for years was heavily involved in union organizing. He is now retired from the USWA and working with the Value of the Person Consultants. | |
